What is the Cost of TV Wall Mounting?

At Jim’s Antennas, our TV Wall Mounting service starts at a baseline cost of $199. However, as is the case with most aerial service providers, this price will vary depending on the installation scenario. In most circumstances, until a technician has visited your home, they are unable to say exactly how much installation will cost. It is for this reason that our certified TV installers provide each and every customer with a free onsite, no-obligation quote.

What Are the Factors That Influence the Cost of TV Wall Mounting?

Bracket/Mount Type

There are three main types of TV wall mounts, these include a Flat, Tilt and Turn (aka. Full Motion Mounts). Flat wall mounts are generally the cheapest option as they are fixed and do not offer movement. On the other hand, Tilt brackets offer a middle range solution – allowing you to move your TV up or down to reduce glare. While Turn/Full Motion mounts are a high end option, which allow you to tilt your TV up and down or left to right, to enhance the viewing experience and maximise comfort.

If you choose to have Jim’s Antennas supply your TV bracket/mount, unsurprisingly, the model you select will influence the total installation price. However, Jim’s Antennas technicians are also available to complete wall mounting for customers with pre-purchased mounts.

Size & Type of TV

The size and type of your TV will determine the time required to complete a job and the difficulty of the installation.

For example, in some instances an exceptionally large and  heavy TV  (80” or above) may require two technicians – which will slightly increase labor costs. Additionally, the type of TV you purchase, will also sometimes determine what type of bracket or mount you need. For example, Samsung’s ‘The Frame’ comes with its own specialised mounting bracket, while other types of TVs such as curved TVs may require custom brackets. In some circumstances outdoor TV wall mounting installations may also require purchasing a specialised mount, such as a SealTV mount, to protect against the elements.

Wall Type

When it comes to TV Wall Mounting, Gyprock walls with wooden studs are considered ideal and often reflect  the ‘baseline’ cost. Mounting on other surfaces such as brick walls may require specialised equipment such as wedge anchors and often takes more time, therefore costing slightly more.

While other aerial installers may offer solutions for mounting without studs, for damage prevention and safety reasons, Jim’s Antennas technicians will always attach the mounting bracket to two studs. If unable to mount a TV safely and securely, our installers will advise the customer of alternative solutions, such as placing the TV on a cabinet.

At Jim’s Antennas the cost of concealed cabling is also included in the price of our TV wall mounting service. If it is not physically possible to conceal cabling due to solid brick walls or walls with tight cavities, interior cabling will be run down from the TV and concealed using conduit. This is of course  slightly cheaper than having cables completely concealed (hidden in the wall cavity).

Existing Home vs New Build

For Existing Homes, an antenna and powerpoints are likely to already have been installed, meaning that in most cases the new TV simply needs to be mounted and connected to the antenna. However, extra costs will arise if additional TV points need to be installed or if existing ones are required to be relocated.

On the other hand, New Builds often require antenna, TV point and powerpoint (GPU) installation, therefore adding multiple extra costs. At Jim’s Antennas, Antenna installation starts from $250, while TV point installation begins at $150.

TV Location

The overall cost of TV Wall Mounting will also depend on how far an existing powerpoint (GPU) is from the customer’s desired location of the TV. If this distance is greater than the length of the TV’s power cord, an extension lead may be required – adding a slight extra cost. However, if the power point is relatively far from the TV, for instance, on the opposite side of the room, the help of an electrician may be needed to help install a new one. If this is the case, you can expect to pay a bit more.

That said, the team at Jim’s Antennas works alongside several electricians. Even if a new power point is required to complete a job, our experienced installers are still able to provide a quote on the entire job and can organise for the electrician to come at the same time as when they are completing the installation.

Overall, there is no simple answer to the question “How Much Does TV Wall Mounting Cost?”. In reality, the price of TV Wall Mounting largely depends on situational factors and therefore varies from customer to customer.

The Cost of TV Wall Mounting Depends on 4 Key Considerations:

  1. Bracket/Mount Type
  2. TV Size and Type
  3. Type of Walls
  4. Whether a TV point, Antenna or powerpoint (GPU) needs to be installed

When reading about the cost of installation, it may be tempting to try mounting your new TV yourself. However, TV wall mounting is harder than it might look, which is why we recommend having a professional install and mount your TV for you. Wall Mounting a TV can go horribly wrong in inexperienced hands, resulting in damage to your new TV, walls, and perhaps even to yourself or others!

All TV wall mounting installations done by Jim’s Antennas come with a 3 year installation warranty and are covered by the Jim’s Group Work Guarantee
