SPLITTER AND AMPLIFIER REPLACEMENT SOUTH-WEST OF SYDNEY DUE TO BIRD DAMAGE

Although they are pretty birds, cockatoos sure do have an ugly side. These pesky parrots are notorious for chomping through coaxial cables, unnecessarily costing homeowners and businesses alike time and money.

Mark from Jim’s Antennas Mount Annan recently completed a job where he was required to replace a home antenna system’s coaxial cabling, splitter and amplifier — due to you guessed it, our lovely feathered friends.

The cockatoos had bitten through the outer jacket of the coaxial cabling, allowing rain water to travel down the cables which caused the system’s splitter to corrode internally, and rendered the powered amplifier useless.

When replacing this system, Mark threaded the new coax cable through poly pipe to protect the new cabling from birds in the future. Alternatively electrical conduit can also be used to protect your coax cables.
