Bendigo TV Transmission Update: Temporary Transmitter to Restore Some Channels

Following ongoing restoration work at the Bendigo TV transmission tower, WIN TV Transmission has announced that a temporary transmitter will be switched on later this week to help restore television services to parts of the region.

The temporary service will operate on 557.5MHz (Channel 32) ) and will broadcast a single multiplex (mux) carrying several major commercial channels.

Channels expected on the temporary Bendigo transmitter

The temporary transmitter will provide access to the following services:

WIN NetworkSeven NetworkNetwork 10
WIN HDSeven HD10 HD
9GEM7Mate10 Drama

This temporary setup is designed to give many Bendigo viewers access to key commercial networks while permanent repairs continue on the main transmission infrastructure.

Who may receive this signal?

Some areas of Bendigo and surrounding districts that are currently unable to re-point their antennas to other towers may be able to receive temporary signal.

  • Many homes will pick up these channels automatically once the transmitter is active.
  • Others may need to re-tune their television or set-top box to detect the new frequency.

If your TV is showing “no signal” or missing channels, a re-scan is the first step.

How to Re-tune your TV

In most cases you can retune by:

  1. Pressing Menu on your remote
  2. Going to SettingsChannelsAuto Tuning / Auto Scan
  3. Starting a full re-scan

Leave the TV scanning until it reaches 100%.

Why Returning isn’t enough

Because this temporary transmitter is operating at a different frequency and power level some homes may still struggle to receive a reliable signal, depending on location, antenna condition, cabling, and obstructions.

Jim’s Antennas technicians in the Bendigo region can help with:

  • Testing signal strength and quality
  • Retuning and optimising existing systems
  • Antenna realignment where possible
  • Upgrading antennas, cabling or amplifiers if required

Our local experts have professional signal meters that can determine whether this temporary service — or alternative transmitters — can be received at your property.

Can’t get TV reception at all?

If free-to-air reception remains unavailable at your location, remember that Freeview channels can also be streamed live through through the official Freeview TV app and network apps on most smart TVs, phones and tablets — providing a temporary viewing option while broadcast services are restored.
