Has your Antenna been installed on the wrong side of your roof?

Whether your antenna is old or new if it is not mounted correctly it can cause frustration, like pixelation, weak signal or worse none at all. Although, if you do have an old analogue antenna we do advise you replace it – click here to find out why.

The are a few important factors to take into account when mounting your antenna.

  1. The alignment and placement of your antenna is crucial when it comes to receiving a strong and reliable signal. It’s recommended that you ensure that Trees, Foliage and Tall buildings are not blocking the signal from the transmitter to the antenna.
  2. Line of sight to your nearest transmission tower is an important factor in choosing how and where the antenna is located on your roof as it often happens that if located further away or obstructed from the nearest TV transmitter, reception problems crop up.
  3. The height of the mount. This will be depended on your line of sight to the transmission tower. Having your antenna at the right height can make a massive difference to the signal quality and power that your TV receives.

If your current reception is weak, pixelating or you have missing channels (why is it always the channel that you watch the most?) then we recommend you call the experts. At Jim’s Antennas, our team of installation experts specialise in all types of aerial installation tasks. Your local technician will fit the correct Antenna for the type of TV reception available in your local area.

Luke from Jim’s Antennas Shepparton, had a customer who was experiencing pixelation on their TV. After testing the TV wall point, it was found that the signal strength and quality was very low which was causing the pixelation. The existing antenna was inspected and it was found to be an old analogue antenna that was installed poorly on the flashing resulting in the mount being extremely loose and likely to fall down causing damage. It was also installed on the wrong side of the house as it was pointing directly into the roof.

The existing antenna and mount were removed. A new mount was installed on the back of the house which allowed the new digital antenna to be located in the best position for signal. Additional TV wall points were also installed throughout the house and a new digital amplifier was required to be installed at the antenna, boosting the signal to ensure that there was enough for every TV point in the house.
