TV reception issues? There could be multiple reasons why.

It’s the end of the day and all that you want to do is sit on the couch and watch your favourite TV show. Yet, you can’t. For some reason your TV reception is now playing up. Or pixelating. Or worse you can’t even get any of the channels to work. But, before you call for help – here are few things to try first:

  • Ensure your TV and power cables are connected to the wall sockets as well as the TV
  • Try and perform an auto or manual scan for TV Channels (refer back to your TV’s owner manual)
  • If you do have an amplifier in your system ensure the power supply is plugged in and turned on.

If you are still unable to get your TV reception to work then now is the time to call Jim’s Antennas. Our team of experts will do a full assessment of your current antenna system and diagnose any reception problems using specialised equipment. There are many causes of poor TV reception. This could be cabling, splitters, connectors, amplifiers, incorrect installation or an antenna that has moved off alignment.

Only recently, Kenny from Jim’s Antennas North Lakes in Queensland, had a customer who had multiple issues, which caused poor to no TV reception. The issues were:

  • The Masthead amplifier was faulty due to weather, which ended up damaging the cable tie.
  • Rainwater came into the box which also short circuit it.
  • The VHF antenna was faulty.
  • The Fascia mount bracket had loosened over time, making the antenna swing with the wind.

The solution? Kenny installed a Magna Black High Gain 10 Elements antenna, plus a new Masthead Amplifier and 2 staybars by Matchmaster.

  • The 10 Elements Antenna has a good quality signal but does have low power. Therefore, it needed a boost for the good signal to transmit to the TV.
  • With the Masthead Amplifier: boost 24dbm and delivered over 48dbm to the TV.
  • The Stay Bars are cyclone grade, which fit to the antenna pole.

The customer can now has great TV reception for their two TVs. You can too. All you need to do is call 131 546 or book here, to arrange your free onsite, no obligation quote.
