Don’t Wait For The Corrosion To Take Over Your Antenna!

Although the Coastal areas across Australia are stunning and most peoples dream to live there, these ‘idyllic’ locations do have a mortal enemy. Which is corrosion, also known as ‘rusting’. This is common in coastal areas due to the high levels of humidity and the presence of salt in ‘sea air’ and water.

But, what is corrosion and how does it affect your antenna? Corrosion is the gradual breakdown of material, usually metal, by a chemical reaction with its environment. The most common form of corrosion is rust (combined metal with water and oxygen, creating iron oxide). This reaction occurs when you combine these elements together for an extended period of time.

If you have noticed that your antenna is starting to rust, or has already, then it is time to call the experts at Jim’s Antennas. Rusted antennas can pose as a danger (they can become loose on your roof) and it can also interfere with your TV signal, causing pixellation and loss of channels.

Our beautiful coastline locations are delightful but don’t be too complacent when it comes to preventative maintenance on your home.

At Jim’s Antennas our team of experts can install all aluminium, stainless steel and hot dipped galvanised products for your coastal home. Below are some photos taken from the Jim’s Antennas Wyong team, who are constantly upgrading or helping maintain their customer’s antennas, due to the environment.

If you are concerned or want to prevent your antenna from becoming damaged by rust, call 131 546 or book here to arrange your free onsite quote.
