TV above the fireplace?

A customer of mine had bought a new plasma which they wanted mounted above their fire place. They were unaware of the fact that installing a flat panel TV above a fire place may damage the TV, or void their warranty.
They had their hearts set on wall mounting the TV so I offered them what turned out to be the perfect solution. With a little extra work, I was able to create a cut out into the wall, added a timber frame and some additional bracing to hold the weight of the 55inch TV.
To protect the TV from the heat of the fire place and the concealed flu, I added fire rated cement sheeting behind the TV, then attached the plaster on top of that. To protect the cabling, I installed 60mm PVC piping through the rear cavity to the entertainment unit where the AV equipment and other components were located. The PVC not only protects the cables from the potentially hot metal flu and heater, but also allows for any future cabling to be added with ease.
My customer had a painter in to finish off before I installed the TV which added a few days to the project, but I think the results are worth the wait.
My customer was rapt, and I am proud as punch.

This is one of the latest antennas I am currently using in my Jim’s antennas franchise. I love that it is made right here in Australia, designed specifically for our harsh Australian climate conditions in mind. This Hills Black arrow antenna is ideal for those currently building in a new estate. Councils can be strict on antenna locations and even the size and look of your antenna. And rightly so, I am pretty sure most of us don’t want to be starring out our kitchen window only to see a unsightly antenna. With that in mind I paint the bracket in a black non rust paint to make it less obtrusive on a new roof. The digital TV reception is perfect quality as is the Black arrow antenna.
As far as antennas go – this one is a work of art!

Jim’s Antennas Wyong At the Coastal Lifestyle Festival

In March this year, Jim’s Antennas Wyong continued their commitment to the digital switchover and excellent customer service by attending the 2013 Coastal Lifestyle Festival held in the Forrester’s Beach Parklands. Franchisee, Rod provided free advice on upgrading to digital TV reception.

Rod also displayed products related to; home theatre installations and cabling, booster systems, surge protection boards and high definition digital set top boxes.

With the Central Coast switching off the analogue signal later this year, those attending the Festival were keen to know how they could improve their antenna systems to ensure they had the best digital reception possible. With Jim’s Antennas Wyong providing free on-site quotes, Rod was kept busy booking up antenna assessments in the subsequent weeks.

Jims Antennas Echuca have recently revived a local church by bringing it into the 21st century. The church was suffering from poor sound quality and an old projector system so Jim’s Antennas to the rescue. Jim’s Antennas installed a new Public Address System to the church with both local microphones on the lectern and a wireless mic to roam the church and also to be put in the choir. With the wall mounting of the new screens the parishioners can now have easy viewing of hymns along with photo stories for weddings etc. The finished product exceeded the churches expectations and were very happy.

A few weeks ago a lovely client phoned me on a Friday afternoon in desperation. The digital reception in Mernda was not great. She wanted perfect digital TV reception and she wanted it fast. She had a plan and now I was to be part of her plan………
As a surprise for her sports loving husband she asked me to make this happen, as well as wanting her Plasma TV wall mounted in the Alfresco area.
Something so simple as fine tuning an antenna and wall mounting the TV makes for a very happy husband.
As it turned out I was there that same afternoon, I installed and mounted the plasma t.v to the wall. The digital reception as requested was crystal clear and in return I am sure a very happy Husband.

Local school support from Jim’s Antennas Wyong ends up in Samoa …

With close community ties and a commitment to support local schools, Rod our franchisee for Jim’s Antennas Wyong, recently donated a Blu Ray/DVD Player to the Wyong Christian Community School. The School sends a team of students annually to Samoa to help in the local schools, providing resources for the students and practical support to the teachers and the local community.

As part of the fundraising for the Samoa trip, a trivia night and silent auction is held and this is where Rod saw the opportunity to support the local community by donating the Blu Ray player.

School Administration member Susan Johnston (pictured) was happy to receive the donation and reported after the event that the donation contributed to an overall total of $3126 being raised for the Samoa trip.

As the local Jim’s Antenna Franchisee, Rod also installed a new antenna and booster system for the schools recently renovated Library and classrooms.

“Jim’s Antennas Echuca have recently installed this home Theatre system incorporating ceiling mounted projector, 100″ fixed wall screen and custom speaker pack. The clients brief was to be able to watch digital TV for mainly sporting events such as the football and car racing, but then drop the lights and watch a great movie. Jim’s Antennas worked closely with the client and builder to achieve both the functions and look the client required, designing all the layout of the room and cabinetry. All front speakers were hidden behind a L P Morgan 100″ galleria screen which is perforated allowing crystal clear sound to come out. The sub woofer is hidden into the cabinetry again with a perforated grill. Blu Ray DVD recorder and integra amp complete the package giving the client the ultimate experience!

JED WHO HAS BEEN BATTLING SERIOUS ILLNESS WITH JIMBO AT THE BLACKWOOD CHRISTMAS PAGEANT

Our South Australian Jim’s Antennas Franchisees have been very busy lately organizing ways to raise ongoing funds and support a local Adelaide children’s charity.
The Little Heroes Foundation raises funds for essential equipment and services accessed by thousands of seriously ill children and their families.
The Little Heroes Foundation holds a special meaning to the Jim’s franchisees in Adelaide, because of the plight of one of their fellow franchisees little boys battling with serious illness.
Tim Ginever the Corporate Relationship Manager for the Little Heroes was invited to make a presentation at the Jim’s monthly meeting. He was very well received and offered some great ideas on how Jim’s Antennas could get involved.
With thirty franchisees in the room getting everyone to agree on how to move forward should of proved to be difficult! This was not the case as every one pulled together offering full support and a brilliant solution.
Jim’s Antennas South Australia is now a licensed partner with the Little Heroes Foundation. Each franchisee has agreed to proudly donate $5 from every Hills Black Arrow Antenna they sell and install to support the foundation.
The Black Arrow from Hills Tru-Spec range is the latest antenna from their South Australian factory. Which has been a large success with all the Jims installers.
Supporting local business and local charities, ultimately giving back to local families helping to make a difference to their lives. This is just the start of what we hope to be a wonderful relationship with The Little Heroes.
